Ross Dagata - Pawtucket, RI

(01/02/15) Pawtucket - Ross Dagata passed away on December 31, 2014 at home. He was born on January 23, 1924 in Rochester, NY, the son of Giovanni Dagata and Vincenza (Cavallaro) Dagata. He was a resident of Pawtucket, RI, for sixty one years. Ross is survived by his wife, Florence (Hetu) Dagata, and five children and their families, John A. Dagata and his wife, Mayumi Ozeki, of Gaithersburg, MD, Anne Bryant and her husband, James Bryant, of Pawtucket, RI, Clare Dagata Pawtucket, RI, and her fiancé, Russell Chabot, Marie Dagata and her husband, Robert Brocia, of Bronxville, NY, and Catherine McMahon of Milford, MA. He leaves five grandchildren, Jessica and her husband, Joe Padykula, of Mansfield, MA, Hilary Bryant and her husband, Richard Morgan, of Pacifica, CA, Ross S. Dagata of Olney, MD, Maggie and Olivia McMahon of Milford, MA, and three great-grandchildren, Florence, Leo and Mia Morgan of Pacifica, CA. Those who preceded him are his daughter, Jane Dagata, his sisters, Mary Polis, Angela Guiffre, Libra Goyer, and Carmella Carrazza, as well as his parents. During World War II, Ross served in the US Navy submarine service. Following the war he was graduated from Providence College in 1949. His working career began in the office of RI Congressman Aime J. Forand, continuing with graduate studies at Catholic University Washington DC, before returning to RI in 1952. He was appointed Executive Director of the Rhode Island Builders Association in 1955 and spent forty three years in that position, retiring in 1997. During that time many successful programs were developed and membership in the association increased greatly. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the William W. Tripp Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. Visiting hours from 1:00 to 2:30 PM are scheduled prior to the service. For online condolences visit: TRIPPFUNERALHOME.com
