(12/30/14) COSTA, Arthur J., 94, of Harding Street, West Warwick, passed away Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014 at Kent Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Rita A. (Plunkett) Costa. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a son of the late Antonio and Mary (White) Costa.
Mr. Costa was employed as a diesel mechanic serving with the U.S. Civil Service for many years before retiring in 1961. He was a WW II Army Veteran.
He is survived by a daughter, Georgann Hunter of Harper, TX; a son, James J. Costa of Portland, Oregon; a brother, Raymond Costa of Coventry; two sisters, Dorothy Adams in Oregon and Irene Ducharme of West Warwick; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Joseph Costa Soares, Maria Furtado, Vera Provencher, Mary Amaral, Mabel Margues and Hilda Rossi.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014 at 9:30 am in the PRATA-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. Visiting hours will be prior to the service from 8:30-9:30 am. Interment will follow with military honors in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
