(12/09/14) Manuel J. Furtado, 90, of Aberdeen Street, West Warwick, died unexpectedly on Sunday, December 7th at Kent County Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Eduarda M. (Pacheco) Furtado. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, he was the son of the late Joao and Virginia (Ribeiro) Furtado.
He leaves his two beloved sons and daughters-in-law, Luis and Olivia Furtado and Mario and Catherine Furtado, all of West Warwick. He was the loving grandfather of Michael (Stephaney) Furtado and Stephanie Furtado. He was the proud great-grandfather of Marcus and Matthew Furtado. He was the dear brother of Lidia Furtado DeSousa of Arlington, MA and Eduardo Raposo of Fall River, MA. He was the brother of the late Ilda, Antonio, Diodato Furtado and Marizinha Palhinha. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Furtado was a communicant of St. Anthony Church in West Warwick. He was devoted to his faith, his wife and his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 9:00-10:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Anthony Church, 1 Sunset Avenue, West Warwick. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, West Warwick.
