(11/26/14) South Kingstown – Dr. Martin E. Robinson, MD, 87, of Kingstown Road died Sunday, November 23, 2014 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor (Warren) Robinson.
Born in Houlton, ME, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Esther (Frost) Robinson. He graduated from Bowdoin College, Brunswick, ME and from the Yale University School of Medicine.
Dr. Robinson was a well-respected family physician in Hopewell Junction, NY from 1952 – 1986. During the Korean War he served a two year tour of duty as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Medical Corps. He was a Fellow with the American Academy of Family Physicians.
After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Rhode Island in 1987, residing in Narragansett before moving to Wakefield in 2000. For over ten years he was a volunteer at South County Hospital in South Kingstown.
He is survived by three sons: Mark Robinson & his wife Susan of Cranston, Thomas Robinson of Placitas, NM and Peter Robinson & his wife Carolyn of Placerville, CA; one brother: Stephen Robinson of Chapin, SC, and five grandchildren: Nicole, Jennifer, Kristen, Taylor & Casey.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 30 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, RI. His life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Monday, December 1 at 11:00 am at Phillips Memorial Baptist Church, 565 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston. Interment in Hopewell Rural Cemetery, Hopewell Junction, NY will take place at a later date.
