(10/31/14) George H. Luther, 98, of Flat River Road, Coventry, RI, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Alpine Nursing Home, in Coventry, RI. Born in Foster, RI, he was the husband of the late Annie L. (Goodnough) Luther and the son of the late William and Minnie (Brayton) Luther.
He was an owner and operator of Luther Brothers Saw Mill in Foster, RI and also worked for Koszela Lumber of Coventry, RI for many years. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII.
George is survived by a son; George H. Luther, three daughters; Barbara A. Harrington, Beryl L. Eccelston and Diana M. Lorenson, a brother; William Luther, eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister; Elsie Paine and granddaughter; Paige Eccelston.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 10:00 am in the Gorton-Menard Funeral Home & Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be held at RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to your favorite charity.
