George Matook - Pawtucket, RI

(10/21/14) Pawtucket – George Matook, 86, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Monday, October 20, 2014. He was the husband of Constance “Connie” L. (Wilkowski) Matook for sixty years. George served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was the proprietor of Gemsew Sewing Machine Repair on Central Ave., Pawtucket for many years. George enjoyed repairing sewing machines and donating them to many local non-profits and for bringing smiles to children with small gifts. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and kind ways. George was a longtime member of Jenks Lodge No. 24, Pawtucket. Besides his loving wife, he leaves a daughter, Deborah J. Matook and her husband, Murat Oztermiyeci of Cumberland; a son, George M. Matook, MD of Edmond, OK; three sisters, Rita Sayegh, Mary David both of Pawtucket and Ida Carlos of Lincoln; a brother, Samuel Matook and his wife, Kay of Pawtucket and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Fred Matook, Emily Albert and Rose Affsa. George loved his late dog, Jack and his grand dog, Fuzz and grand cat, Luca. His funeral with Military Honors will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by Services at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, 249 High St., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery. VISITATION will be at the funeral home Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Nursing Placement Hospice, 334 East Ave., Pawtucket, RI 02860 will be appreciated.
