(10/16/14) Pawtucket – Alfred “Coach Al” E. Vieira, Jr., 73, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2014. A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, he was a son of Evelyn (Rogers) Vieira of Pawtucket and the late Alfred E. Vieira, Sr. Al served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a custodian in the Pawtucket School Department for many years until retiring over 5 years ago. Coach Al was a former football coach for the Pawtucket Crusaders; Darlington Braves; Seekonk Tigers and the Tolman Tigers. He also coached Darlington Girls Softball and the Slaterettes. Al enjoyed fishing, camping and woodworking. Besides his mother, he leaves his daughters, Erin and Cory Vieira of Pawtucket; a brother, William Vieira of Seekonk; a granddaughter, Leila Evelyn Gosselin of Pawtucket and a nephew, William Bo Vieira of Seekonk. His funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Leo the Great, 697 Central Ave., Pawtucket.
