(09/04/12) Pawtucket – Frieda H. Dengal, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2012. Born in Rehoboth, she was a daughter of the late John and Katherine (Morth) Dengal. She was a service advisor in the Business Service Department at Verizon for many years until retiring. Frieda was a devoted volunteer giving freely of herself to many local organizations including; AT&T Pioneers, American Red Cross and local women’s shelters in Pawtucket and Providence, where she was known amongst children as “The Ice Cream Lady”. During World War II, Frieda was a Citizen Volunteer International Operator in Seattle, WA, connecting long distance calls to the troops abroad. As a senior citizen, she attended classes at CCRI proudly earning straight A’s throughout. She also enjoyed world traveling. Frieda was the sister of Gertrude “Trudy” Driscoll of East Providence and the late Emily Brisson and Joseph Kraemer. She was the beloved aunt of William Kraemer in Colorado, Robert Kraemer of No. Attleboro, Katherine Urbanik of Woonsocket, Jon Driscoll in California, Christine Driscoll of So. Kingstown and the late Josephine “Josie” Brisson and Joseph Kraemer. Her funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery.
