(09/03/14) Augusta, ME – Eleanor A. (Smith) Sawyer, 103, formerly of Pawtucket, passed peacefully at her daughter’s home, on Friday, August 29, 2014. She was born at home in Concord, NH, on June 26, 1911, the daughter of the late James D. and Cordelia (Lavoie) Smith. Eleanor moved to Augusta in 1999 after the death of her beloved husband of 54 years. Mrs. Sawyer was a graduate of Central Falls High School. She worked at Kresge’s 5 & 10 as a pianist where she sold sheet music. She played the piano for over 90 years and was still playing until the month before her death. She also worked for the SPCC and Michaels Bauer. She was a communicant of St. Augustine Church, a member of the Third Order of Mary in Augusta, and a charter member of St. Leo’s Senior Citizens, Pawtucket. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond L. Sawyer; a brother, James A. Smith and a sister, Doris Holmes. She is survived by her son, Raymond J. Sawyer and his wife, Eileen of Pawtucket, and their children, Tracey, Jennifer and Allison Sawyer; a daughter, Lynne E. (Sawyer) Veilleux and her husband, Gary G. of Augusta, and Lynne’s son, Timothy R. Sawyer; four great-grandchildren, Lauren and Ryan Murphy, and Alexa and Jackson Gustavsen; three step-grandchildren, Michelle, Marianne and Michael Veilleux, two nephews, a niece and their families; devoted and cherished friends, Nikki Howard and Joan Moore and many other friends. VISITATION will be TODAY beginning at 1 p.m. followed by Services at 3 p.m. at PLUMMER Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME. Burial will be FRIDAY, Sept. 5 at 9 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland, RI. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Maine General Hospice, P.O.
