(08/23/14) Lincoln – Bertram J. Garceau, 97, of Cliffside Drive died Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Leonie M. (Mugg) Garceau.
Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Bertram M. and Agnes B. (Baines) Garceau, he had lived in Lincoln for over 60 years.
A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, he was a chemical scientist for Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI) for many years before retiring.
He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Pawtucket.
An active Mason, he was a 69-year member of Mount Moriah Lodge#8, F. & A.M., Lincoln; a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Providence; a member of Pawtucket Chapter #4, Royal Arch Chapter of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations; a member of Pawtucket Council #2, Royal and Select Master Masons of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations; a member and Past Commander of Holy Sepulchre Commandery #8, Knights Templar; and a member and Past Illustrious Potentate, and Past Recorder of the Rhode Island Shrine, AAONMS; and a member and past recorder of the Royal Order of Jesters, Court #13.
He was the father of the late Agnes B. Higbie and the brother of the late Ellen B. Garceau and the late Agnes E. Garceau.
He is survived by his son-in-law, Anthony Higbie of Indiana; and five grandchildren.
His funeral and burial will be private.
