(08/20/14) Matthew T. Forbes, 85, of Ebbett’s Hollow, Block Island, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of the late Jean (Osborne) Forbes. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Sam and Molly (Frankel) Forbes. He resided in both, New York and Block Island RI.
Mr Forbes was an award winning advertising writer for many years before retiring. Prior to advertising, he had also been an actor and was proud to say he had been a NYC cab driver. He was a Korean War Army Veteran, special entertainment services. He was a lover of Music and Nature, literature, travel and fishing.
He is survived by his partner, Davida Levenson of City Island NY, his children, Nora Forbes and Jessie Edwards and her husband Richard Warfel both of Block Island and Sam Forbes and his Wife Niovi of Brooklyn NY, and Dana Forbes of New York; three grandchildren, Zoe Forbes, Ben Edwards and Jason Warfel, and sisters, Renee Shorr of Tucson, AZ and Barbara Randelman of Miami FL.
