(06/16/14) KOWALIK, Stephen G., Sr., 84, of Manchester St., West Warwick, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston.
He was the husband of the late Carmen P. (Lefebvre) Kowalik. Born in Providence, a son of the late Stephen J. and Leona (Benjamin) Kowalik. He was a resident of West Warwick for most of his life.
Mr. Kowalik was a founding member, treasurer/manager of the former West Warwick Credit Union of over 30 years and during that time was also an independent insurance agent. After retirement he was a shuttle bus driver at T.F. Green Airport for over a decade. He was a Korean War Navy Veteran, a communicant of St. Mary Church, an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by two sons, Stephen G. Kowalik, Jr. and his wife Pamela of West Warwick and Gary C. Kowalik and his wife Julie of West Warwick; a brother, Frank Kowalik, of Warwick; three grandchildren, Stephanie Cliff, Kristin and Benjamin Kowalik and two great grandchildren, Olivia and Christian Cliff. He was the brother of the late Lillian Robinson and Blanche Gagne
His funeral will be held on Friday at 9 am from the HENAULT-GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in St. Mary Church, Church St., West Warwick. Interment will follow with military honors in RI Veterans Cemetery.
