(07/17/14) South Attleboro - Matilda “Tillie” D. (Lapham) Fortunati, passed away at home on Thursday, July 17, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Fortunati. Born in Seekonk, the daughter of the late Wilbur D. and Blanche M. (Arpin) Lapham, she resided in Pawtucket before moving to South Attleboro 25 years ago. Tillie had been employed by the Ledgemont Country Club, Fram and the Harvest Bakery. She gave freely of her time and talent by volunteering for many different organizations including the Memorial Hospital of RI and Meals on Wheels. She leaves her daughter, Robin L. Young and two grandchildren, Jason David “JD” Young and Bailey M. Young all of South Attleboro; a brother, David Lapham of Seekonk; nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Donald Lapham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery. (07/17/14) MARCOTTE, M. Patricia “Pat” (Lynch), 74, of Oak Hill Drive, Manning, South Carolina, formerly of Cranston, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014 at her residence in Manning, SC. She was the beloved wife of Peter M. Marcotte, they had been married for 50 years. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late John J. and Mary (Meehan) Lynch. Prior to moving to Manning, South Carolina in 2004, she resided and raised her family in Cranston. Mrs. Marcotte was employed at Industrial National and Fleet Bank for many years before retiring in 1995. Raised in Providence, she was a communicant of St. Augustine Church and graduated from St. Patrick’s High School. Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters, Patricia M. Marcotte of Providence, Kathleen A. Marcotte of West Warwick and Maureen L. Simao and her husband Michael of Coventry; a son, Peter J. Marcotte of Richmond and three grandchildren, Aidan Simao, Grace Marcotte and Liam Marcotte. (07/18/14) LARSON, LEONARD T. 95 of Cranston passed away July 17, 2014 at home. He was the beloved husband for 66 years of the late Anna (Williams) Larson. Born in Cranston a lifelong resident of the city. Mr. Larson worked for the former Kenny Manufacturing Co. Warwick for forty years, retiring as a foreman. He was a WWII Army veteran serving in the African and European Theatre. For participating in the Liberation of the Nazi Dachu Concentration Camp, he was awarded a Liberation Ribbon & Certificate of Honor from the United States Holocaust Council signed by President Ronald Reagan. Leonard was the loving uncle of several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Clarence, Everett, Louis and Raymond Larson. (07/18/14) Providence – Ronald T. Lussier, 80, formerly of Seekonk and West Warwick, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 17, 2014. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan T. (Lord) Lussier. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Theodore and Blanche (Garand) Lussier. Ron served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Strickland during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Seekonk Lions Club. Ron was also the owner and president of National Insulation, Inc. from 1976 to 1991. He leaves three sons, David T. Lussier of Providence, Christopher R. Lussier of Cranston and Daniel J. Lussier of Providence; two grandchildren, Austin and Meagan Lussier and a brother-in-law, Robert Lord of Mt. Dora, FL. He was the brother of the late Rita McGuirk. Pilosa, 44, of Cranston, RI entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 17, 2014 surrounded by his loving family and friends at Rhode Island Hospital after courageously battling a 3 year illness. Born in Providence on June 26, 1970, he was the beloved son of Patricia A. (Leary) Pilosa of Cranston, RI and Joseph L. Pilosa, Jr. and his wife Elissa of Hope, RI. He was an employee of the family business, Ocean State Transfer, for over 20 years. Jason will be greatly missed and always remembered for his unique sense of humor, his love of animals and most of all his Heart of Gold. Besides his parents, he is survived by his twin brother Marc, his wife Misty and their son Marc, Jr. He was the dear nephew of Dennis Leary and Deborah Blanchard. (07/19/14) Cranston - Philip A. “Phil” Lundgren, 86, of Alexander Street, died Friday, July 18, 2014 at Linn Health Care Center, East Providence. He was the beloved husband of M. Barbara (Lacross) Lundgren with whom he celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on May 14, 2014. Born in Providence he was the son of the late Alfons and Agnes E. (Ahlquist) Lundgren. Phil graduated from Cranston High School, Class of 1945 and Brown University, Class of 1950, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and a past commander of American Legion Post 1, Providence. For 39 years he worked for Amica Mutual Insurance Company retiring as an underwriting officer in 1989. Phil furthered his education and career advancement by achieving certification as a Chartered Life Underwriter and as a Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter. He was an active and lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Warwick where he served for many years as a Deacon and in numerous other capacities, as well as a member of the committee that oversaw the development and building of the Matthew Xxv Senior Apartments. He was a member of the Verdandi Male Chorus and the American Union of Swedish Singers. Phil became a member of the Masonic Fraternity being raised to the degree of Master Mason in Harmony Lodge 9 F&AM Cranston in October of 1953. His other Masonic memberships include Scottish Rite Valley of Providence, the Rhode Island Shriners and Providence Court 71 Royal Order of Jesters. He was a member of the Turks Head Club, Providence; the Brown University Hockey Association and the Society of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters. He was also a charter member of the Cranston Jaycees, and a member of the Goose Pond Lake Association and the Granite Acres Property Association of Canaan, New Hampshire. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: CAPT Karin E. Lundgren, USN (ret) & her husband, CDR Kevin L. Jones, USN (ret) of Virginia Beach, VA and Susan L. Mahoney & her husband Anthony of Cranston; two grandchildren: Ian Hall and Zoe Mahoney, and three nieces & one nephew. He was predeceased by his sister, Helen Allen. His family is remembering Phil as a devoted and loving husband and father. He shared a special connection with all animals, especially his Pugs. He had a great sense of humor and loved to golf, fish and spend time with family and friends at Goose Pond. (07/19/14) SARCIONE, FELIX, D.D.S., 92, formerly of Warwick and Cranston passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, Friday July 18, 2014 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. Dr. Sarcione was born in Providence, a son of the late Vincenzo and Vincenza ( Rapa) Sarcione. He was the husband of the late Carmel (Scialo) Sarcione and the late Grace (Gebhart) Sarcione. Dr. Sarcione was a graduate of Providence College, class of 1943 and a graduate of Georgetown Dental School, class of 1950. He practiced dentistry in Providence from 1950-1980. He was a Past President of the Providence District Dental Society, a Past President of the Rhode Island Dental Association and a Life Member of the American Dental Association. Dr. Sarcione served as a medical corpsman in the US Army during WWII. Dr. Sarcione is survived by his son, Philip Sarcione of New Hampshire, his daughter Susan Zimmerman of Pennsylvania and step-sons Vincent and Paul Gebhart of Cranston and Rick Gebhart of East Greenwich. He was the beloved grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of four. He was the brother of Gloria Sciolto and the late Alexander V. Sarcione, Esq. (07/19/14) Edward Hrycaj, 96, died peacefully Tuesday July 15th in Florida. Mr. Hrycaj was predeceased by his beloved wife, Geneva (Howard) Hrycaj, brothers Michael, Paul & Andrew Hrycaj and sisters Mary (Hrycaj) Lee and Ann (Hrycaj) Mull. Eddie is survived by his two loving sons and their spouses, Nicholas & Jo Ann of Rotonda West, FL and David & Celeste of Fort Myers, FL. He also leaves behind two cherished grandchildren Curtis Hrycaj and his wife Lee, of North Smithfield, RI and her children Brady and Benjamin and Nicole Hrycaj and her husband Marc, of Amsterdam, Netherlands and their daughter Lucy. Eddie grew up in Fall River, MA where he worked in his father’s lumberyard until being drafted.Sgt. Edward Hrycaj was a veteran of WWII having served with distinction in Guadalcanal with the 101st Medical Regiment, where he earned the presidential unit citation. After the war he and Geneva settled in Swansea, MA. Eddie worked for the post office in Providence, RI for 30 years before retiring to Englewood, FL. Eddie will be laid to rest aside his wife Geneva at Mt. Hope Cemetery on Friday July 25th at 11:00. Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Eddie’s life during a graveside service with military honors.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Anthony and Lucille (Brindamour) Rainha. George enjoyed a long career in construction. He was a member of the P.I.C. in West Warwick and the Holy Ghost Brotherhood. He loved football and was an avid New England Patriots fan. Born and raised in Little Compton, he was a member of Carpenters Local 33, Boston. Richard was a fun loving man with a great sense of humor and a kind heart. He loved his family and friends back home and in Boston, including “The Swing Shift”. He was also a member of the Boston Gun and Rifle Assn. Born in Spring Valley, Minnesota, he was a son of the late Gustav and Luverna (Kraling) Krahn. Mr. Krahn was a Machinist for Electric Boat in Groton for 10 years and then as a Mechanic for the State of Rhode Island for 30 years, until his retirement in 1990. He served in The United States Navy during the Korean War. He was the loving father of James R. Krahn and his wife Janice of Zumbro Falls, MN, Debra L. (07/22/14) Connie A. Christina, 101, of Liberty Street, Pawcatuck, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 22, 2014 at the Westerly Nursing Home. She is survived by her sister, Anna M. Christina of Pawcatuck, and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her sisters, Rose Christina, Mary Longolucco and Josephine Martin and her brothers, Angelo Christina, Peter Christina and Jack Christina. Miss Christina was born in Pawcatuck on July 4, 1913, the daughter of the late Guiseppe and Domenica (DiPolina) Christina. She was a bookkeeper for over 60 years at DeNoia Brothers Furniture & Repair Service, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Westerly Senior Center and the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:00 am at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly. (07/22/14) KELLY, Sister Mabel Anne, 99, formerly known as Sister Mary Donalda, a Sister of Mercy and former instructor of nursing died on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Mount St. Rita Health Centre, Cumberland. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Mary (McCarthy) Kelly; she was the sister of the late Gerald, David, John, Wilfred, and Albert Kelly and sister of Helen Wall and Frances Laurent. Sister Mabel entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1935 and made final vows in 1941. Early in religious life, Sister studied at Mercy College in Cumberland and Catholic Teachers College in Providence where she received a B.S. in Education. She taught for seven years in R.I. Diocesan Schools. In 1945-48 Sister entered the Nurse Cadet Program at Catholic University where she earned a B.S. in Nursing Education and R. N. Certification. She taught Biology at St. Mary Academy Bay View and from there moved on to Mercy Hospital in N. Dakota to serve as a surgical nurse instructor. From 1950-1962, Sister was Director of Nursing and Biology Instructor at Salve Regina University having attained a Master’s Degree in Biology form Catholic University. In 1962 to 1964 Sister taught a Mt. St. Mary Academy in Fall River followed by a four year Biology Teaching Exchange at Our Lady of Cincinnati College Ohio. Grants in nursing refreshers prepared Sister for work as Clinical Instructor at Temple University; eleven years later, she became certified as a Nurse Practitioner in Buffalo, New York resuming teaching at R. I. Junior College until 1980. After retirement, sister engaged in nursing ministry for Quality Care and Steere House in Providence R.I. In the tradition of Mercy, Sister addressed the needs of the poor, particularly as an advocate for affordable housing. Sister’s funeral will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Mt. St. Rita, Cumberland, with a memorial prayer service at 10:15 am followed by a Liturgy at 11:00 am. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Richmond-Jehu, wife of Nathan, of Westerly, her grandchildren, Cassandra Richmond-Jehu and Curtis Richmond, her brother, Robert Rogers of DE, her sister, Jackie Wynn of Westfield, MA, her former husband, John Richmond of Westerly, her sister-in-law, Angelina Richmond and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Raymond E. “Uncle Bert” Rogers Jr. Mrs. Richmond was born in Hawaii on August 25, 1946, the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Pearl L. (Rogal) Rogers Sr. She was a graduate of Westfield High School and the University of Rhode Island. She became and was a registered nurse at the Watch Hill Manor for many years. Judith taught Sunday School at the Central Baptist Church of Westerly and was a member of their choir. She also was a part of various nursing social groups in the area. Born in North Brookfield, MA, a daughter of the late Leonard and Mabel (Chadbourne) Drake, she had lived in Pawtucket for over 50 years and summered in North Falmouth, MA for over 50 years. Mrs. Box was a registered nurse and a 1951 graduate of Pembroke College (now Brown University) with a Bachelor of Science Degree and an RN Degree. She was one of two students to make it through the 5-year dual program. She was an active member of the Pembroke College Alumnae Club and its treasurer for many years. She told many happy stories about her time at Pembroke. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Sons of Italy, the Wild Harbor Yacht Club, and the New Silver Beach Association. Mrs. Box was a communicant of St. Maria Goretti Church, Pawtucket. A self-proclaimed and proud Swamp Yankee, she was smart, feisty, playful and funny. She loved spirited discourse and had deliberate opinions. Her mischievous sparkle, smile, wry sense of humor and sideways smile could light up a room. Jan graciously listened to the many deliveries of her husband’s corny jokes. Always active, she loved to play tennis, to travel and to have big adventures. Some of her most meaningful travels were to San Lucas Toliman where she assisted her husband in providing dental care to the Maya Indians in the Highlands of Guatemala. An avid gardener, she could make anything grow. She was known for keeping her sidewalks and street impeccably clean. Jan touched many places, pets and people with her enthusiasm and warmth. She never stopped welcoming people into her home and family and was a second mom to many, including a young man who had escaped the Vietnamese conflict. She wholly cherished her husband, children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Sharon Holtcamp of Cleveland Heights, OH, Krista Box (Matthew Riley) of Washington, DC, and Suzy Box (Harry Adler) of Cranston; one son, David Box (Diana) of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren, Anthony, Lindsay and Alex Box, and Nicholas and William Holtcamp; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Richard Milo Drake. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held FRIDAY, JULY 25 at 11 A.M. in St. Maria Goretti Church, 155 Power Road, Pawtucket. Vincent "Cat" S Perkins - Coventry, RI

(07/22/14) Vincent S. “Cat” Perkins, 81, of Yeaton Street, Coventry, RI, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Kent Hospital, Warwick, RI. Born in West Warwick, RI, he was the husband of Ethel L. “Kitty” (Harrell) Perkins. They were married for fifty-six years. He was the son of the late Thomas and Olga (Kowalczuk) Perkins. Vincent was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal and the Bronze Service Star. “Vinny” was a prominent figure in the neighborhood and was well liked by all including many kids who knew him as “Mr. P.” He enjoyed bird watching, had a love of dogs especially black labs and an affinity for horse racing. In their earlier years together he and his wife “Kitty” attended many races and visited a number of tracks including Saratoga and Rockingham. Later on they turned to Foxwoods where they spent many Saturdays together and made lots of friends. They were to celebrate their 57th anniversary this September. Besides his wife he is survived by four children; Bruce Perkins, Sharon Bertholdt, Gary Perkins and Barry Perkins, two brothers; Thomas Perkins and Ron Perkins, nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son; Glen Perkins and two brothers; Francis Perkins and Robert Perkins. His services will be private and are under the direction of Gorton-Menard Funeral Home and Crematory, 721 Washington Street, Coventry, RI. (07/22/14) LOMBARDI, JOHN 102 of Cranston passed away peacefully July 21, 2014 at the Scandinavian Home in Cranston. He was the beloved husband for 69 years of the late Lucy A. (Laterra) Lombardi. Born in Providence a son of Sebastiano and Rose (Bellino) Lombardi. Mr Lombardi worked for the William Dandreta & Co. for 32 years as a Salesman and manager, afterwards Mr Lombardi worked 9 years for Tri-State Automotive. He is survived by his beloved daughters, Judith R. Campbell and her husband Jack of Warwick and Joan M. Rozen and her husband Vincent of Cranston. Loving grandfather of 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Joseph Lombardi, Mary Ferraro, Jennie Lombardi, Peter Lombardi, Frances Petracca , Yolanda Lotito, Helen Lepre and Clara Rossi.
